New Central Funding Stream Lands in Himachal’s Farming Landscape
The Union government has disbursed a fresh ₹64.82 crore to fortify agricultural initiatives across Himachal Pradesh. The allocation targets two flagship programmes designed to modernise and expand the state’s agrarian base.
How the Money Is Divided
Under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), the centre earmarks ₹28.31 crore. An additional ₹36.51 crore flows through the Krishi Unnati Yojana. Together they comprise the complete ₹64.82 crore package.
Political Leaders Applaud the Allocation
Hamirpur MP and former Union minister Anurag Singh Thakur thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the continued financial support. Thakur noted that the new tranche will reinforce existing infrastructure works and spark fresh projects aimed at strengthening Himachal’s farm sector.
Planned Utilisation of the Funds
The resources will underwrite a spectrum of activities—from seed distribution and irrigation upgrades to capacity‑building workshops for cultivators. By bolstering both RKVY and Krishi Unnati Yojana, the state can accelerate scheduled interventions and keep momentum on ongoing schemes.
Wider Significance
This disbursement forms part of a broader central effort to channel timely resources to states for agriculture‑centric programmes. Himachal Pradesh’s latest tranche underscores the collaborative partnership between the centre and the state in keeping vital farm initiatives financially sustainable.
