Guy Parmelin, the President of Switzerland, will touch down in Noida on Tuesday as part of a three‑day state visit to India. He has set aside roughly two and a half hours to examine the freshly inaugurated Noida International Airport at Jewar up close.

Scheduled to arrive at the airport around 11:30 am, the president will stay on site until about 2 pm. His programme includes a guided walkthrough of both the passenger and cargo terminals, a sit‑down with senior airport officials, and a briefing on the construction timeline and operational roadmap.

The Jewar project is being driven by Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd, a wholly‑owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG – the Swiss company that runs Zurich Airport. Parmelin will receive a comprehensive presentation on the venture and will inspect the infrastructure that is taking shape.

First Head‑of‑State Aircraft to Land at Jewar

Airport authorities note that the Swiss leader’s plane will be the inaugural international flight carrying a head of state to land on the runway. Although cargo aircraft from Russia and China used the strip during the recent BRICS summit, Parmelin’s arrival marks a symbolic milestone for the emerging hub.

During the stop, the president will also meet Swiss engineers and project managers stationed at the site. The delegation will be briefed on passenger services, cargo handling, cutting‑edge technology, and the overall operational model envisioned for the airport.

Business and Technology Collaboration in the Spotlight

Parmelin’s trip to India coincides with a surge in economic and technological dialogue between the two nations. The official agenda features discussions on trade, investment, education, research and innovation.

Accompanying the president are senior business leaders and academic representatives from Switzerland, turning the Jewar visit into a platform for exploring broader cooperation opportunities between Indian and Swiss enterprises.

Airport Gears Up for International Traffic

Noida International Airport has already launched commercial flights and is preparing for an expanded roster of international services. The Swiss team’s assessment of passenger and cargo facilities will be crucial as the airport aims to become a major aviation hub for the National Capital Region.

Stringent security protocols have been put in place ahead of the presidential arrival, with multiple layers of protection and dedicated traffic arrangements to ensure a smooth movement of the entourage.

The high‑profile visit underscores Switzerland’s stake in the Jewar project and opens another avenue for India and Switzerland to deepen cooperation across business, infrastructure, technology and investment.
