The inferno broke out at unit E‑133, where DEIEM India Pvt. Ltd. produces its footwear line. Employees from neighboring factories were the first to notice the flames and promptly alerted police and the fire department.

Fire crews arrived within minutes and launched a coordinated attack on the blaze. Because the site stores large stocks of leather, rubber and other flammable materials, additional fire tenders were mobilised to help contain the fire.
