Kumaon Division Commissioner Issues Strict Directions on Revenue Operations in Ramnagar, Demands Answers on Mutation Delays

Ramnagar. Kumaon Divisional Commissioner Deepak Rawat conducted a thorough inspection of the Ramnagar Tehsil office on Monday, focusing on revenue work, pending court matters and citizen‑related issues. He instructed staff to adhere to stipulated timelines and to accelerate all procedural steps.

While examining court‑pending cases, the Commissioner warned that no matter should remain idle without justification. He ordered regular hearings and mandated that every case be closed promptly, in line with existing rules, and cautioned against any avoidable hold‑ups.

In the review of Section‑143 applications concerning land‑use conversion, he directed that all such petitions be resolved within ten days, emphasizing transparency and strict compliance with the prescribed timeline.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the pattern of mutation files being rejected on the 35th day, the Commissioner directed that a detailed explanation be obtained from the Tehsildar. He reiterated that mutation requests must be examined and disposed of within the legally defined period.

The inspection also covered ‘Khurra’ cases that have been stagnant for over two years. Noting the undue delay, the Commissioner ordered the concerned Patwaris to submit written explanations for the prolonged pendency.

He instructed the Sub‑Divisional Magistrate (SDM) to keep a continuous check on all pending matters at the Tehsil level, stressing that citizens should not be forced to make repeated trips to government offices for revenue issues. Officials were asked to streamline workflows and ensure both timely and quality disposal of cases.

During the visit, a group of advocates met the Commissioner and requested the posting of an Ahlmad at the Tehsil office. He assured them that the appointment would be processed on a priority basis and appealed to the lawyers to help raise public awareness about mutation procedures.

Present at the inspection were Sub‑Divisional Magistrate Gopal Singh Chauhan, Tehsildar Manisha Makrana, along with other senior Tehsil officials and staff.
