Initial claim of an electrical accident
On 3 October, staff at BPS Khanpur Hospital notified local police that a woman identified as Ramashwari appeared to have suffered an electric shock at a flat in Sector 15, Sonipat. When officers arrived, they found the deceased’s daughter Janvi, a man named Vishal, and several relatives present.
Janvi repeatedly urged the investigators to forgo a full autopsy, arguing that the only injury was a shock transmitted through Ramashwari’s left hand. Vishal echoed this view, insisting that any medical examination be limited to that single limb.
After the police explained the legal requirement for a comprehensive post‑mortem, the family reluctantly agreed. Because the examination could not be carried out immediately, the body was stored in a freezer until the next‑day autopsy could be performed.
Autopsy findings overturn the accident story
The medical examiner’s report contradicted the family’s narrative. Rather than signs of electrocution, the autopsy revealed that Ramashwari died from suffocation, with distinct bruising and compression marks around her mouth and neck.
These revelations prompted investigators to reclassify the case as a potential homicide and to re‑examine the circumstances surrounding the death.
Suspects, relationships and possible motive
Further questioning uncovered that Janvi and Vishal were romantically involved and were sharing the rented accommodation with Ramashwari. Police suspect that the mother’s disapproval of the couple’s plans to marry created tension that may have escalated into violence.
Vishal was taken into custody. During interrogation he gave a detailed account of the events on 3 October, which investigators are cross‑checking against forensic evidence and the autopsy report.
Forensic evidence and the ongoing probe
A forensic team inspected the flat where the death occurred. Items recovered included a double‑bed sheet bearing what appeared to be blood‑stained smears and an electrical extension cord—both being examined as possible components of a staged electrocution.
The case has been officially logged at the Sector 27 police station, with ASI Sanjeev assigned as the investigating officer. Authorities are now matching the medical findings with physical evidence collected from the scene and the statements of those involved to reconstruct the exact sequence of events.
Investigators stress that the inquiry remains active, and they will continue to analyse all forensic material, recovered objects, and witness testimonies before reaching a final conclusion.
