October Heat Still Holds On
Even though October has begun, Haryana continues to wrestle with residual summer warmth. Daytime highs are running a few degrees above the seasonal average, and sunshine remains intense across much of the region.
Data from the Agricultural Meteorology Division of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU) in Hisar show that the last four to five days have been dominated by dry westerly flows, pushing daytime temperatures to 3‑4 °C above normal and night‑time lows to 2‑3 °C higher than usual.
Two Western Disturbances Expected Oct 7‑12
Meteorologists now forecast a change in the pattern as two consecutive western disturbances move through the region between 7 and 12 October. These systems are likely to introduce cloud decks, thunderstorms, rain bouts and brisk winds across several districts.
First Disturbance – Impacts Starting Oct 7
The first system is expected to touch the Himalayan foothills on 7 October, with its outer bands reaching Haryana that night. Northern districts could experience thunderstorms, strong gusts and light rain from 7‑9 October, while parts of the south‑west may also see scattered showers.
The precipitation should shave a few degrees off the thermometer, providing a brief but welcome break from the lingering heat.
Second Disturbance – Arrival Around Oct 9
A second western disturbance is slated to become active near 9 October. Its influence is projected to last from 10‑12 October, bringing partly cloudy skies, renewed wind bursts and additional rainfall in multiple locations.
The added moisture and wind are expected to temper the daytime highs that have persisted over the past week.
Post‑Rain Cool Breeze
Once the twin systems move away, north‑westerly breezes will sweep the area, driving down both daytime and nighttime temperatures. Residents can anticipate a noticeable dip in heat and humidity as the cooler air settles in.
