New Delhi – Police in Delhi’s bustling Sadar Bazar district have taken a 56‑year‑old man into custody after a Class‑6 student alleged that he sexually assaulted her inside a shop where she had gone to buy school supplies.

According to the investigation report, the girl entered the store to purchase stationery. The accused, identified as Maqsood, is said to have confined her within the premises, tied her hands and feet, and then committed the sexual assault.

The victim’s formal complaint led officers at the women’s police station to lodge a case citing multiple offences, including sections of the Indian Penal Code related to rape, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and unlawful confinement.

Maqsood was apprehended on Friday. Detectives are continuing to gather forensic evidence and statements to strengthen the case against him.
