Metro stations temporarily sealed
In anticipation of a large‑scale gathering at Jantar Mantar, authorities have prohibited passenger entry and exit at eleven Delhi Metro stations. The affected stations are Janpath, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, Lok Kalyan Marg, INA, Chawri Bazar, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg and New Delhi. While the main gates remain shut, the interchange corridors at several of these hubs stay operational for passengers transferring between lines.
Police reinforce the area
Delhi Police have deployed additional personnel around Jantar Mantar and its surrounding streets, installed barricades at vulnerable points and intensified surveillance and security checks. The administration has also issued restrictive orders for the New Delhi district to curb any potential disturbances.
Traffic advisories
The Delhi Traffic Police have warned commuters of severe congestion on routes leading to Jantar Mantar, Connaught Place, Patel Chowk and Sansad Marg. Motorists are urged to plan alternate journeys and avoid the identified choke points during the protest window.
What lies ahead?
The station closures are a component of a broader security strategy. Officials will keep a close watch on the situation and may modify access rules at the affected stations if conditions change.
