Arrests and weapons recovery
The Farukhnagar wing of the Gurugram Crime Branch arrested three young men accused of planning a large‑scale criminal act in Delhi intended to sow terror. During the operation, officers seized two imported pistols along with five cartridges.
The individuals taken into custody are:
- Abhay (also known as Maulad), 20 – resident of Kheda Jhajhrola village.
- Jatin (also known as Jony), 29 – hails from Patel Nagar, Sonipat.
- Sagar – native of Kheda Jhajhrola.
All three have been charged under the Arms Act at Sector‑10 police station.
Sequence of the apprehensions
Separate teams cornered each suspect at different spots. Abhay was intercepted near the Garhi flyover on the New Pataudi‑Gurugram Road, Jatin was nabbed in Farukhnagar, and Sagar was stopped close to the KMP in the same vicinity. While evading capture, Sagar attempted to leap from a flyover, sustained a fractured leg and was subsequently hospitalized. Further legal steps will proceed after his discharge.
Investigation into the source of the firearms
Initial questioning indicated that Abhay received the pistols from Jatin. Detectives are now tracing the origin of Jatin’s supply chain, with early leads pointing to additional intermediaries who may have facilitated the transfer.
Police suspect the trio maintained communication with contacts abroad, possibly receiving directives for illicit money‑recovery and extortion activities. The alleged plot aimed at executing a high‑impact crime in Delhi to create widespread fear, although the specific targets remain under investigation.
Wider network under scrutiny
Authorities are mapping the entire conduit that delivered the weapons to the suspects, analysing call logs and searching for other participants in the alleged conspiracy.
Records show that Jatin already faces a case in Delhi under the Excise Act, prompting officials to review his prior dealings as part of the ongoing probe.
ACP Naveen Sharma stressed that the inquiry continues to uncover the origin of the firearms, the broader syndicate, and any additional criminal links the arrested individuals may have. The investigation remains active, with further updates expected as interrogations progress and new leads are validated.
