Incident Summary
At around 6 a.m. on Saturday, a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus en route from Manali to Pathankot tipped over close to the Police Line area in Bashing, Kullu district. The vehicle, which had four passengers besides the driver and conductor, came to rest on its side, causing injuries that varied from minor to serious for all six individuals on board.
People Injured
The injured parties comprise four travelers—Shyam Lal (45), Krishna Thapa (42), Chhaya Devi (25) and Rakesh Kumar (31)—as well as driver Manmohan Singh (42). The conductor, Praveen (46), suffered only minor cuts and bruises. All six victims were swiftly taken to the Regional Hospital in Kullu for treatment.
Police Action and Probe
Local law‑enforcement reached the crash site shortly after the accident and have opened an inquiry to determine the cause of the overturn. Officers are collecting statements from witnesses and inspecting the road surface near the Police Line to assess whether driver error, mechanical failure, or external conditions contributed to the mishap.
Importance of the Route
The Manali‑Pathankot highway is a vital corridor for both locals and tourists navigating the Kullu valley. Because the incident occurred in the early morning, the bus was not fully loaded, a factor that may influence the ongoing investigation.
Current Situation
Medical teams continue to monitor the patients’ recovery, while police officials have pledged to release further updates as the investigation proceeds.
