Dehradun – Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took part in the International Day of Older Persons celebrations at the Himalayan Cultural Centre in Neembuwala, Dehradun, on Thursday. The programme featured the launch of a new civil‑services coaching scheme tailored for persons with disabilities and a tribute to 23 senior citizens for their distinguished achievements across various fields.

Five winners of essay and painting contests were also recognised during the event.

Pension Disbursed Through One‑Click System

Through a streamlined single‑click payment portal, the Chief Minister released the September pension allotment. A total of 9,93,886 beneficiaries received ₹147 crore 34 lakh 53 thousand on the day.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to senior‑citizen welfare by taking a pledge and planting a sapling under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign on the centre’s grounds.

Senior Citizens: The Family’s Protective Shield

Addressing the gathering, Dhami conveyed heartfelt wishes to the elderly on the International Day of Older Persons, praying for their continued health and longevity.

He highlighted the pivotal role seniors play in providing security to families, passing on values, and serving as a “protective shield” that fosters discipline, affection, and emotional bonding within households.

“Our elders are the cornerstone of family stability, imparting wisdom and love that shape future generations,” the Chief Minister said.
