Kolkata. In a sweeping move within a money‑laundering probe, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out coordinated raids on roughly 17 premises associated with the Amrit Group and its promoters across Kolkata and Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The operations are tied to accusations of a large‑scale investment fraud.

The agency disclosed that the raids were conducted under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Investigators say the sweeps target locations where the group allegedly collected funds from the public through a series of deposit schemes that promised unusually high returns.

Promises of High Returns, Reality of Losses

According to the ED, Amrit Group companies and their directors solicited public money by marketing lucrative interest rates, only to default on the promised payouts. The alleged shortfall has left a significant number of investors financially harmed.

While the ED has not yet released specifics about the documents, cash, or other evidence seized during the searches, the agency affirmed that the raids form a crucial part of its investigation into both the suspected fraud and the accompanying money‑laundering dimensions.

As of now, neither the Amrit Group nor its promoters have issued a public response to the enforcement actions.
