Kashipur Deputy Block Chief Hardeep Singh’s Murder Solved: Childhood Friend and Spouse Apprehended

Kashipur. Police have taken into custody Sandeep Singh, also known as Sona, a longtime companion of the late Deputy Block Chief Hardeep Singh, together with his wife Sandeep Kaur, for their alleged role in Hardeep’s killing. Investigators say the homicide stemmed from a protracted monetary disagreement amounting to roughly ₹30 lakh.

SSP Ajay Ganpati disclosed on Tuesday that a complaint was filed on September 13 by Rajvinder Kaur of Gulzarpur, who reported the shooting of her son, Hardeep Singh. Early probe work uncovered financial friction, prompting detectives to focus on Sandeep.

According to the police narrative, the night of the incident began with Hardeep and Sandeep sharing a dinner and drinks at a roadside dhaba. Later they retreated to Sandeep’s residence, where they allegedly consumed illicit liquor. A heated argument over money erupted, after which Sandeep is said to have seized Hardeep’s licensed handgun, which lay on the table, and discharged seven rounds. Two bullets struck Hardeep’s abdomen, and he later died despite medical attention.

Investigators allege that Sandeep owed Hardeep about ₹30 lakh. In addition, Hardeep had reportedly bought a second‑hand bulldozer worth around ₹8 lakh in Sandeep’s name. Sandeep, a farmer who cultivates roughly 15 acres, and Hardeep had been friends since childhood.

Police claim that after the shooting, Sandeep himself transported the wounded Hardeep to a hospital and informed his family, allegedly to mislead investigators and deflect suspicion.

Sandeep’s wife, Sandeep Kaur, is accused of tampering with the crime scene by cleaning blood‑stained surfaces, leading to her arrest. Authorities are also probing the involvement of Sandeep’s mother, who was reportedly present at the location when the incident occurred.

The investigation team recovered the licensed firearm, the spent cartridges, and the vehicle used in the crime. The operation involved Kotwali Kunda SHO Dhirendra Kumar, Sub‑Inspectors Saurabh Kumar, Govind Mehta, Manoj Dev, Sonu Singh, and Naveen Joshi, as well as Assistant Sub‑Inspector Ravish Ram.
