Lucknow – Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath officially commissioned a squadron of 87 interceptor motorcycles and cars at Lok Bhavan, signalling a decisive step toward high‑tech policing in Uttar Pradesh. The blend of four‑wheelers and two‑wheelers will sharpen traffic monitoring, enhance road‑safety protocols and reinforce law‑enforcement presence across the state.

Technology‑Driven Policing at the Forefront

Addressing a gathering of officials and journalists, the CM traced the evolution of law‑and‑order strategies since 2017 and reaffirmed the government’s resolve to overhaul police operations through cutting‑edge tools. He pointed to the police commissionerate model as a structure that demands strategic planning, decisive leadership and modern equipment to foster a secure environment for development and civic life.

Feature‑Rich Interceptor Fleet

The newly rolled‑out interceptors come fitted with sophisticated surveillance kits, GPS‑based tracking systems and real‑time communication links. They will be dispatched to busy arterial corridors, congested intersections and other high‑risk zones, feeding instant data to centralized command centres.

Adityanath also referenced the broader Safe City programme, noting that Integrated Command and Control Centres now operational in several districts are already augmenting both preventive patrols and investigative work.

Celebrating Valor and Service

The ceremony included a medal presentation to police personnel who have shown exemplary dedication. Among the honourees was the late STF Inspector Sunil Kumar Singh, posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra for his gallantry, with his family receiving the accolade on his behalf.

In addition, the event marked the launch of former DGP Prakash Singh’s memoir Sangharsh, a candid narrative of police reforms and his decades‑long tenure on the force.

Road‑Safety Remains a Core Priority

Confronting the ongoing challenge of road fatalities, the chief minister underscored that technology‑enabled enforcement, combined with vigilant monitoring, is vital to reduce deaths on the highways. Deploying the 87 interceptors forms a cornerstone of the state’s broader agenda to modernise traffic management and safeguard commuters.

Through these initiatives, Uttar Pradesh aspires to set a benchmark for contemporary policing, merging traditional bravery with digital precision.
