Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami received a delegation of young people from Haryana who were on a three‑day exploratory tour of Uttarakhand. The interaction at the chief minister’s residence gave the guests a chance to voice their observations on the state’s recent progress in road and digital connectivity, tourism development, renewable energy and social welfare schemes.
Road, rail and broadband wins applause
The group praised the swift expansion of highways and broadband infrastructure that now threads through the rugged hills. New mountain passes and extended fiber‑optic cables have made even the most isolated villages accessible.
Railway extensions also earned commendation, with the youths noting that upgraded train services are opening fresh pathways for pilgrims and tourists alike.
Beyond transport, the visitors highlighted the state’s clean air and the burgeoning homestay sector, crediting proactive government support that is turning family homes into thriving micro‑enterprises.
Infrastructure upgrades in border districts received special mention, as the youngsters felt these projects are narrowing gaps for communities living on the frontiers.
Homestays, solar rooftops and a serene ambience
During their itinerary, the Haryana team witnessed first‑hand how tourism‑related amenities are attracting increasing footfall. Better roads and visitor facilities are directly bolstering the local economy.
The solar rooftop initiative was lauded as a forward‑looking step, perfectly suited to Uttarakhand’s abundant sunshine and mountainous terrain.
Equally striking was the tranquil vibe and heartfelt hospitality of residents, which allowed the visitors to connect with the cultural fabric that has earned the region the epithet “Devbhoomi.”
CM Dhami on inter‑state learning
Welcoming the guests, CM Dhami invoked the timeless principle of “Atithi Devo Bhava.” He emphasized that youth exchanges across states nurture an appreciation of India’s diversity while showcasing successful development models, innovative practices and inclusive policies.
Such interactions, he said, can spark idea‑sharing and inspire emerging leaders to replicate best practices in their own regions.
Prioritising last‑mile development
The chief minister reiterated that Uttarakhand’s agenda is geared toward channeling growth benefits to the grassroots. He outlined welfare schemes aimed at poor families, women, farmers and youth, all anchored in the Antyodaya philosophy.
Transparent recruitment drives have reportedly placed around 35,000 young professionals in state services over the past five years, creating pathways for both employment and self‑employment.
Balancing progress with heritage
Uttarakhand, Dhami explained, is forging ahead while safeguarding its cultural and natural legacy. Key initiatives span women’s empowerment, self‑employment, tourism promotion, branding of local products, homestay support, solar energy deployment and border‑area development. He also referenced the state’s move toward a Uniform Civil Code.
Young people as digital brand ambassadors
During the dialogue, the CM urged the Haryana visitors to amplify their positive experiences on social media. He described them as potential “digital brand ambassadors” who could showcase Uttarakhand’s pilgrimage sites, tourism offerings, indigenous crafts, millets, homestays and the achievements of women’s self‑help groups.
By sharing these stories, the youths can spread awareness of Uttarakhand’s initiatives nationwide, strengthening cultural ties and encouraging collaborative growth between Haryana and Uttarakhand in culture, tourism, innovation and development.
